Medical and Nursing Staff
Becky has spent over three decades as an LPN, much of that time in Birmingham, near where she grew up. She is passionate about women’s health and wellbeing, loves obstetrics, and wants all of her patients to feel welcome and loved. She and her husband hoped to one day live near the water, so when the opportunity to relocate to Baldwin County presented itself, they jumped at the chance. Her weekends are spent visiting relatives back in Birmingham and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Belinda Durbin came to Shoemaker Ob/Gyn in 2001 as an experienced registered nurse, having previously worked in labor and delivery at Thomas Hospital. She originally chose obstetrics and gynecology after falling in love with labor and delivery while in nursing school. A resident of Daphne, Belinda spends her free time sewing or with her grandchildren in Tampa.
Stephanie fell in love with obstetrics while in nursing school at Auburn University. She initially worked in a cardiovascular intensive care unit at East Alabama Medical Center before moving first into the post-anesthesia care unit, then into high risk labor and delivery at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope. She joined Shoemaker Ob-Gyn in 1998. When she isn’t nursing, she spends weekends with her family, boating, or reading.
Kemily Wilson – RN
A Fairhope native, Kemily previously worked in the emergency room at the University of South Alabama, then in the surgery department of Thomas Hospital, where she became acquainted with Dr. Shoemaker, and made the move to our office in 2009. She is well known around the office for her ability to communicate with patients over the phone, helping to alleviate their concerns. When she isn’t working she most enjoys spending time with her two daughters.
Before joining our office, Megan worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. When she was ready for a change from oncology, she decided that women’s care most interested her, and was drawn to Shoemaker Ob-Gyn based on the reputations of our providers and office staff. Originally from Robertsdate, Megan enjoys reading, riding horses, traveling to visit family, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
Heather’s career began with the Baldwin County Board of Education where she spent five years as a special education aide. Daily contact with students, some of whom had complex medical needs, prompted her to pursue work in medicine, so she left went to school to become a medical assistant. She did her externship with Dr. Shoemaker and has been here ever since. Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter – hiking is a favorite activity! – and travels often with her husband for his job.
Born and raised in Fairhope, Kim initially worked as a licensed practical nurse before becoming a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in 1995 and joined our practice in 2008. She is a registered sonographer in Ob/Gyn and abdominal ultrasound and is also a Registered Vascular Technologist. Kim especially enjoys obstetrical ultrasound and once worked in high-risk ultrasound at the University of South Alabama. She loves the friendly atmosphere of the Shoemaker Ob/Gyn office and in her free time enjoys yard work, boating, reading, and the beach.
Efficient and friendly, Felicia is our office’s insurance and billing guru. Prior to joining Shoemaker Ob/Gyn, she worked with Gulf Coast Cancer Center as a clinical assistant, then as an MRI and Sedation Services scheduler at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile. A Fairhope native and social butterfly, Felicia likes to spend her days off reading or cooking out with her husband, friends, and family.
A former preschool teacher and children’s ministry director, Ashley works with patients in our front office. She enjoys getting to know more about them, answering their questions – even if it means having to do a little research – and observing the sense of the family that develops between staff and patients. Away from the office, Ashley is often spotted at the ballpark watching her sons play or with her family on the boat or at the beach.
Jenny works part time in our office both in ultrasound and at the front desk while she completes her ultrasound certification. Jenny’s favorite college course in ultrasound was obstetrics, where she learned to scan the different trimesters of baby development, so it’s no surprise that she ended up at Shoemaker Ob-Gyn. She believes there is no better feeling than sharing the joy of patients and their families when they see and hear their babies for the first time. Jenny’s free time is spent on the lake or visiting fun destinations such as the aquarium or the gulf beaches.
